A prophet is a spokesperson for God. The prophet admonishes, warns, directs, encourages, intercedes, teaches and counsels. He brings the word of God to the people of God and calls the people to respond.
The most urgent need of the modern church is for the restoration of the prophetic ministry. In recent years the gift of prophecy has been rediscovered, but there is still a desperate shortage of prophets. The church will not come to true maturity until God has raised up prophets among his people. For nearly two millenniums the public prophetic voice has been silent. Now in our time it is being restored (Tom Marshall - The Coming of the Prophets).
The prophetic ministry begins in the presence of the Lord. The apostle and the prophet complement each other. This is why a church is said to be "built on the foundation of apostles and prophets" (Eph 2:20).

The values that prevail in the Kingdom are the opposite of those that dominate the world. The Kingdom of God will turn many things upside down.
The world uses authority from above. Jesus said, "the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them" (Matt 20:25). In contrast, authority in the kingdom should always be from below. Jesus said, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (Matt 20:26).
The kingdom of God is one of the great themes of the Bible. From beginning to end it speaks of the glory of God and the greatness of his Kingdom. God has promised that the time will come when his glory will be present in every part of the earth. There will be no place in the world, where his name is not honoured and glorified. He will be victorious through the entire earth. All things will be brought into submission to him as the kingdom of God is extended throughout the earth.

A Church consists of the relationships between its members (and relationships with God). Christianity is fellowship with God and with other Christians. Therefore, a church must be a group in which members get to know each other well. The Christians of the New Testament developed very strong relationships with each other. A Church was a community in which people shared their lives in an intimate way (Acts 2:44,46). Their strong commitment to each other contributed to their spiritual strength and energy.
A church is a network of people, who each have a relationship with Jesus, and who are bound together by relationships with each other. They will be joined together by love. For this to take place we need a radical change in our understanding of the church.
